My simese cat uses the litter box alot and fills up in a day, and since its full he resorts to using it around the house, is there anything I can do to make him potty less, it gets changed one day and the next and full again, should I try a different food?

stop using soft food. Use only dry food.
your cat could be alergic to the food.

Hi there…some cats will soil more often if they are very active than cats who are more sedate.
If he is inappropriately soiling around the home it could be a result of the litter box not being clean enough to his liking. Alternatively, there could be a medical problem such as a lower urinary tract disorder which causes cats to have accidents outside the litter box as well.
And an article about inappropriate house soiling habits by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures/Housesoiling.html

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS FEED HIM AT LEAST 2 TIMES A DAY MAYBE EVEN ONE. AFTER, HE/HER IS FINISH; TAKE THE FOOD AWAY IN A PLACE THAT THE CAT CAN’T REACH IT. DON’T PUT A LOT OF FOOD. THE FOOD DOESN’T MATTER. IF THE CAT POTTY’S AROUND THE HOUSE IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAT IN THE LITTER PAN AND SAY NO. THE CAT IS GOING TO GET THE POINT THAT HE/SHE DON’T REPOST TO DO THAT.

My Simese does that as well to an extent, though we haven’t noticed her going to the bathroom out of the litterbox. I would suggest a food for sensitive stomachs and see if that helps, if it doesn’t in a few days then maybe ask a vet?
Ours we just clean the box every day and feed her twice a day and then take the food away.

Hi
Is your cat drinking excessively? If so, there may be diabetes that is present or something else, You should get your cat checked out. If it is diabetes, it is very treatable and you should contact me so I can help.
As far as food, you should be feeding canned foods no gravy
Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrdiant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms
The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process them. Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in
Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don’t use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn’t have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bpo_ch4a.php
